Four Women: Robert Graham and the Female Form

He was in demand for creating bronze public monuments, celebrating great Americans. Some examples are Monument to Joe Louis (1986), the Duke Ellington Memorial (1997), and the Olympic Gateway, dedicated in 1984. But on a personal scale, Graham dedicated himself to the female nude–intimate, immediate, endless renditions of strong and confident female forms in drawings, engravings, and sculpture–over the course of four decades. LAMA will offer four bronze sculptures of female figures in the May 17th Modern Art & Design Auction.
