These Charles & Ray Eames designed armchairs and side chairs with Eiffel Tower base come from the Janet and Irving Green Estate, which leads us to the fascinating history of how these chairs came to be. As an employee of the legendary manufacturer Zenith Plastics, Irving Green developed fiberglass wing components for US Air Force aircrafts during World War II. Four years later in 1949, tasked with exploring new peacetime markets, he began using his skills in fiberglass technology to further develop and produce fiberglass chair shells for Charles & Ray Eames.
