Los Angeles Modern Auctions (LAMA)

Many of Cornell’s works, such as ‘Untitled (Sandbox)’ from c. 1960, which will be offered in LAMA’s February 2018 Modern Art and Design Auction, were designed with the intention of being experienced by direct handling. Gordon Onslow Ford was an artistic innovator, developing such techniques as “coulage,” believed to have influenced such artists as Robert Motherwell, Arshile Gorky, and Jackson Pollock. His desire “to bring wonder into the world” is achieved in luminous and frenetic cosmic landscapes as well as black-and-white investigations into pure and direct expression. This month, LAMA is delighted to present seven works by Onslow Ford spanning the 1940s through the 1990s, which will go to auction on February 21, 2016.
