Just In: Mary Corse’s Microspheres

After first creating sculptural works of Plexiglas and fluorescent light bulbs, Light and Space artist Mary Corse pivoted to painting in 1968. Her “light paintings” incorporate tiny glass beads — “microspheres” — onto acrylic surfaces, as in this untitled 2001 work just arrived to the LAMA showroom.

Los Angeles Modern Auctions is delighted to announce the sale of a rare lithograph by leading American artist Ed Ruscha, which will be available in our March 5, 2017 Modern Art & Design Auction. Ruscha’s word paintings and prints are among his most significant and recognizable bodies of work. In this lithograph from 1975, the words “There’s No Job Too Small” are printed in the artist’s characteristic style, using all caps, perfect alignment and even spacing.

Ed Moses, Untitled Cutout (1963)

Los Angeles Modern Auctions is happy to announce that its May 22, 2016 auction of Modern Art & Design will feature a 1963 three-dimensional drawing by Ed Moses. The Long Beach native, who turns 90 years old next month, is revered as one of the original “Cool School” artists. This untitled graphite and gouache on paper construction stems from an early period in Moses’ career, similar to examples shown last year in the Los Angeles County Museum of Art exhibition Ed Moses: Drawings from the 1960s and 70s.
