Los Angeles Modern Auctions is pleased to celebrate the development and history of photography in its October 12, 2014 Modern Art & Design Auction with a range of photographic work from the 1920s to the 2000s, including pieces from Ansel Adams, André Kertész, Edward Weston, Diane Arbus, Robert Mapplethorpe, Sandy Skoglund, and James Casebere. Los Angeles has quickly become a center for photography—no more proof is needed than the highly attended Paris Photo LA, which will enter its third year at the New York Backlot at Paramount Studios in 2015. LAMA is thrilled to be a part of the city’s photographic ambition and appetite by presenting important artworks from the early days of photography to current, contemporary trends.
The upcoming May 18, 2014 Modern Art & Design Auction features a selection of more than 15 works by famed photojournalists such as André Kertész and Henri Cartier-Bresson to contemporary photographers including Bianca Brunner, Alvin Booth, and Jörg Herold. Additional highlights include two works by Brett Weston (Lot 352) (Lot 353), large-scale digital pigment prints by Chuck Close (Lot 363) and Robert Longo (Lot 364), and four works by Ai Weiwei (Lot 366) (Lot 367) (Lot 368) (Lot 369).
