Indoor/Outdoor Designs for Living by Van Keppel-Green
Finding that the dominant furniture styles of the 1930s were wholly inappropriate for California’s growing architectural interest in unifying indoor and outdoor spaces, the design partnership Van Keppel-Green (VKG) set to crafting simple, multi-use, all-weather pieces that could be easily moved from place to place throughout the home.

LAMA mourns the loss of envelope-pushing American furniture artist Wendell Castle, who passed away at his home in Scottsville, New York on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at the age of 85. Born in Emporia, Kansas in 1932, the highly acclaimed designer and craftsman completely upended traditional distinctions separating the fields of furniture design, sculpture, and fine art over the course of some six decades.
Polish artist Magdalena Abakanowicz passed away on April 20, 2017 at the age of 86. Her work transcended medium by deftly transforming fiber and textiles into haunting figures that depict the various states of the human condition.
One of the most recognizable artists of the Pop Art movement, James Rosenquist passed away on March 31, 2017, at the age of 83. Rosenquist resisted being categorized as a “Pop Artist” and wrote in his 2009 autobiography Painting Below Zero: Notes on a Life in Art: “Pop Art. I’ve never cared for the term, but after half a century of being described as a pop artist I’m resigned to it. Still, I don’t know what pop art means, to tell you the truth.”
Los Angeles Modern Auctions (LAMA) is pleased to announce Ad Reinhardt’s Abstract Painting (1958) will go to auction on October 9, 2016. This important painting is from a series of black paintings Reinhardt produced between the years of 1953 and 1967, deemed one of the most influential bodies of work in Modern art.
