The main focus of my work is to create dynamic shapes supported by sensual lines that will gradually evolve from an idea on paper to a sculpture in glass, and combined with light it will have a powerful impact on the viewer.
Latchezar Boyadjiev
Latchezar Boyadjiev b. 1959
Born in Sofia, Bulgaria, in 1959, glass artist Latchezar Boyadjiev studied at the Academy of Arts, Sofia, as well as with Stanislav Libenský at the Academy of Applied Arts in Prague, before moving to the United States in 1986. He settled in California, where he worked for more than ten years creating optical glass sculptures. In his desire to scale his work to larger sizes, he began to work in cast glass. His process begins with drawing, followed by the creation of a clay model which is used to make plaster molds.
Boyadjiev has shown his work extensively around the world, and his works are held in numerous permanent collections, including the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, the De Young Museum, San Francisco, the Glassmuseum, Ebeldorf, Denmark, and the Glassmuseum der Ernsting Stiftung, Germany.
