Signed, dated and numbered to lower edge of each work ‘2/18, 3/18, 5/18, 10/18, 13/18 and 15/18 Isham '78’. These works are numbers 2,3,5,10,13 and 15 from the edition of 18 unique variations printed by the artist.

Timothy Isham's Virgin Suite

Artist and master printer Timothy Isham joined Gemini G.E.L. in 1969, where he worked with artists including Jasper Johns, Robert Rauschenberg, Ellsworth Kelly, Robert Motherwell, Ed Ruscha, Josef Albers, Frank Stella, and David Hockney. Described by gallerist Alice Lodge as "a conceptual play on the rules of printmaking," The Virgin Suite takes its initial inspiration from Victor brand mousetraps that Isham spotted at a hardware store. Buying four of the traps, Isham proceeded to riff on the contraptions' design and colors, interchanging "Victor" with other V-words like "Victim," "Virtue," and "Virgin." He would later turn this drawing series into a limited edition of lithographs, which he embellished with singular additions made by hand.
