This work was a gift to John Upton, a founding member of the respected Orange Coast College photography department. Upton was on faculty from 1960 until his retirement in 1999, and published the widely used Photography textbook in 1976, co-authored with his then-wife Barbara London.

There is a vast difference between taking a picture and making a photograph.
