In 1973, Grosset & Dunlap published Norman Mailer's Of Women and Their Elegance, an imaginary memoir about Marilyn Monroe. These nine images by Milton Greene were published in the book and included in an 1974 exhibition at Reese Palley Gallery that was launched in conjunction with the book release. In lieu of payment, Grosset & Dunlap gifted the works to the gallery. The have remained in the gallery inventory until now.
This lot is comprised of nine black and white photographs by the artist, five books, and additional ephemera. Books included are Of Women and Their Elegance by Norman Mailer, The Joy of Marilyn: In the Camera Eye by Sam Shaw, Marilyn March 1955 by Ed Feingersh, Marilyn Mon Amour by Andres Dienes and Marilyn Norma Jeane by Gloria Steinem.
