A Los Angeles sculptor noted for his part in designing many of the famous sights of the city, Stanley is responsible for co-designing the 40-foot Astronomers Monument at the Griffith Park Observatory in Hollywood. He also designed the relief on the facade of the Bullocks-Wilshire building in 1929. His most iconic work is designing the maquette for the Oscars award, still used by the Academy to this day.
