MORE INFORMATION:

Dirk van Erp opened his first shop in Oakland, California in 1908, but by 1910 had moved to a new location in San Francisco. During this first year in San Francisco van Erp began a design partnership with D'Arcy Gaw. This partnership terminated in 1911, and as a result van Erp attempted to remove all traces of Miss Gaw's name from the Windmill hallmark on all existing inventory.
