L.A.'s premier auction house of Modern Art & Design held its February 10, 2008 Modern Art & Design Auction at the Pacific Design Center. LAMA featured over 450 lots of paintings, prints, sculpture, furniture, and other decorative objects from the world's most renowned artists and architects.

The auction's top examples included fine art by Andy Warhol, Marc Chagall, Ed Ruscha, Helen Lundeberg, Kenneth Noland, and Pablo Picasso. The cover piece, an exceptionally rare Walter Dorwin Teague"Nocturne" radio, one of ten remaining in existence (Lot 70 est. $80,000 - 100,000), realized a price of $96,000. This auction also offered a large selection of Architectural Pottery and other studio ceramics from Ettore Sottsass, Gio Ponti, and Marc Newsom. Additionally, a wide selection of furniture rounded out the sale, including an outstanding selection of George Nakashima designs and a variety of Danish Modern furniture from Hans Wegner, Poul Kjaerholm, and Arne Jacobsen.

For the second consecutive auction, an Andy Warhol Mao (Lot 45 est. $40,000 - 60,000, realized $75,600) sold far above the asking price. Other highlights included a George Nakashima coffee table (Lot 203 est. $20,000 - 30,000) that realized $60,000, Estaban Vicente's Collage (Lot 23 est. $20,000 - 30,000) that sold for $33,000, and a Sam Maloof custom rocking chair (Lot 188 est. $30,000 - 40,000) that realized $49,200.
