A substantial example of Bertoia's Sonambient sculptures featuring twelve rods in a two by six configuration, punctuated by heavy tops. The tonal sound is deep and reverberating with a slow movement generated by the weight of the rods. Estelle Colwin was an acquaintence of Harry Bertoia's, and through her company E.W. Colwin Associates Art Consultants, many of his sculptures were placed in private collections. This sculpture was obtained directly from Harry for Mrs. Colwin's personal collection. This was one of Harry's favorite works, and was recommended because of the uncommon size and proportion.
