Important Modern Design Auction
When: SUNDAY, December 4, 2005 @ 12:00 p.m.
The sale will feature over 450 lots of vetted high quality mid-century modern fine art and design. The sale includes Furniture, Fine Art, Ceramics, Lighting, Jewelry, and other Mid-Century Modern classics.
Examples include a Harry Bertoia monumental sounding sculpture and oil painting (estimate $70,000-90,000 and $20,000-30,000 respectively), a large selection of hand-thrown ceramics by legendary local ceramicist Gertrud & Otto Natzler (estimates ranging from $6,000 to 30,000), to rare furnishings and artwork by Ilonka Karasz dating from the 1920s (Karasz was a celebrated designer who created 186 covers for the New Yorker in the 1920s -70s, as well as designed furniture, Silver, ceramics and textiles).
Just in time for the holidays, LAMA will also be featuring a large selection of art jewelry by Ed Wiener, Claire Falkenstein,Sam Kramer and Margaret de Patta, ranging from $1,500 to $4,000.
Los Angeles Modern Auctions (LAMA) holds sales twice annually and specializes in Mid-Century Modern.
The auction will be held at the PacificDesignCenter,West Hollywood (Suite B229) on Sunday, December 4th, 2005 @ 12:00 p.m. We will be holding a preview from Thursday, Dec 1st – Saturday 3rd from 10 – 6 pm. Catalogues are available for $30.
