To promote his retrospective “Pieces from a Larger Puzzle” opening July 7, 2010 at 8:30 p.m. at the Italian Cultural Institute
Los Angeles, California- Gaetano Pesce’s first solo West Coast exhibition, “Pieces from a Larger Puzzle” opens July 7th at 8:30 p.m. at the Italian Cultural Institute (IIC). The exhibit showcases a variety of objects including prototypes, production models, video and audio, all of which span across Pesce’s career as a world-renowned artist, architect and designer.
Co-sponsored by Los Angeles Modern Auctions (LAMA) and co-curated by Director of LAMA Peter Loughrey, this exhibit is the result of Peter’s enthusiasm for great Italian design, which has been the driving force in bringing together an excellent survey of Pesce’s works to the Los Angeles community.
Peter Loughrey, Director of LAMA and Co-Curator of “Pieces from a Larger Puzzle”:
“I have always been fascinated by design, but I have a special appreciation for Italian design. Over time I have seen so many of Pesce’s works, each separately, and I am proud to have helped bring these items together into one room, so that viewers can understand the scope of his work.”
Preceding the July 7th opening, the Hammer Museum is hosting a lecture by Gaetano Pesce at 7 p.m. Tickets are free and can be requested through the Hammer’s Billy Wilder Theater Box Office. At 8:30, MoCA Director Jeffrey Deitch will be on hand to open the exhibition with a few remarks, followed by Francesca Valente, the Institute’s Director, who will present Mr. Pesce with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Institute.
