Los Angeles Modern Auctions (LAMA) Announces Next Auction Scheduled for Sunday, May 23, 2010

Van Nuys, California-Los Angeles Modern Auctions (LAMA) is pleased to announce the date for the next auction: Sunday, May 23, 2010. After a successful December auction, the upcoming May auction will feature rare material from the personal collection of Elaine K. Sewell Jones and A. Quincy Jones, along with other important art and design offerings from the 20th Century.

Los Angeles-based architect, Archibald Quincy Jones was one of the top Mid-Century modern architects in America. Jones is most noted for his contribution to post-war housing and large-scale projects that redefined the way people lived within the environment.

Material from the Jones’ collection includes rare books by George Nelson, Charles Eames, A. Quincy Jones, as well as vintage signed photographs of A. Quincy Jones buildings taken by the late Julius Shulman. The collection also includes over 40 Arts and Architecture magazines, along with personal belongings from their home.

In addition to this collection, LAMA will be offering a Frank Lloyd Wright rug from the David Wright Residence, a bar cabinet custom-crafted by Phillip Lloyd Powell, and a collection of Dora De Larios ceramics from the estate of Paul Kasper.
