First Time at Auction: Original Works by Haring, Francis and Dali December 6th, 2009

Van Nuys – Los Angeles Modern Auctions (LAMA) announces the Fall 2009 Auction Catalogue is now available for press preview. Highlights of the December 6th, 2009 Fine Art, Sculpture and Design Auction include a large original painting by Sam Francis (#SF 84-002), Acrylic on prepared paper, sheet 37” x 72.25”. This work was previously purchased from the Sam Francis estate and has never been publicly offered for sale. Another highlight is a stunning, early original work by the late, Pop artist Keith Haring. The work “Untitled” 1981 closely resembles the artist’s famous “Subway Paintings” and has been authenticated by the Keith Haring Foundation. Purchased in 1983 by our consignor, this work marks the most important offering of Pop Art in the history of Los Angeles Modern Auctions. Another highlight is an original painting by Salvador Dali, “Cauchemar de Moise” (Moses’ Nightmare), created in 1974 as part of a small series of originals inspired by Sigmund Freud’s last literary work called Moses and Monotheism. This large work by the Surrealist master has been in the collection of one family since its creation and has never been publicly offered for sale.
