Los Angeles Modern Auctions December 2009 Auction Results

Van Nuys – Los Angeles Modern Auctions (LAMA) December 6, 2009 Fine Art, Sculpture & Design Auction totaled $1.9 million (including buyer’s premium) selling 70% of the 469 lots available.

Over 300 people registered for the auction, including in-house participants who filled the gallery to standing room only. Buyers came from Australia, Ireland, Japan, Argentina, France, as well as an overwhelming amount of clients from California and New York.

Buyers were happy with the prices for furniture, while consignors came away better selling art. Strong prices for art should be proof to the West Coast that you don’t have to send your works to the East Coast to get the highest prices. LAMA is confidently connected to the art world as evidenced by these Fine Art highlights:

  • Lot 83, Larry Rivers “Last Civil War Veteran”, $61,250.00 (est. $60,000 – 90,000)
  • Lot 288, Roy Lichtenstein “Modern Art I”, $29,400 (est. $18,000 – 25,000)

  • 17 lots of George Nakashima custom furniture realized: $327,748.00
  • Lot 259, Diego Giacometti Coffee Table, $79,625.00 (est. $75,000 – 100,000)
