Los Angeles Modern Auctions (LAMA) Announces Its 50th Auction scheduled for October 17, 2010
Van Nuys, California – Los Angeles Modern Auctions (LAMA) is pleased to announce the date for the next auction: Sunday, October 17, 2010. This auction will be LAMA’s 50th auction since opening in 1992, and will include offerings of iconic 20th century modern art and design, proving modern material is still a sought after commodity.
The October 17th Modern Art & Design Auction is proof of LAMA’s dedication over the past 18 years to offering the best modern material available on the market. The auction will feature over 350 works and will highlight offerings that have spanned over LAMA’s 50 auctions. From Frank Lloyd Wright, first offered in the inaugural auction in 1992, to Walter Lamb furniture first offered in LAMA’s 25th auction, the October 17th auction will serve as both an opportunity to reflect on the history of important modern art and design and LAMA’s influence on the market place as the first auction house solely dedicated to modern.
The October 17, 2010 Modern Art & Design Auction will feature a strong selection of fine art including an original work by Pablo Picasso, rare David Hockney lithographs and at least five iconic Andy Warhol prints. Also, a collection of five Natzler ceramics will trade hands for the first time since original purchase in the 1950s, one of which is a very large exhibition piece that bears the desirable volcanic glaze.
The auction also includes a large selection of Architectural Pottery from original collectors. Highlights of which are an extremely rare Gordon Newell “Bear” ceramic sculpture, which until now this form has never been offered at auction, a Malcolm Leland Lantern and several rare David Cressey planters amounting to the best selection of Architectural Pottery LAMA has ever offered in one sale.
LAMA, Los Angeles’ premier auction house is solely dedicated to buying and selling vintage 20th Century Modern Art, Design and Furniture. Auctions are held at the LAMA showroom: 16145 Hart St. Van Nuys, CA 91406. The 2010-2011 auction schedule will include: October 17, 2010; February 2011; May 2011; December 2011.
