LACMA Muse Artwalk & After Party 2012
LACMA MUSE ARTWALK
Saturday, June 16, 2012 | 12 pm
LACMA’s annual ArtWalk invites art aficionados of all kind to a day and night filled with exciting programs. ArtWalk includes live music, dance performances, and interactive art projects at LACMA and in neighboring galleries along the Miracle Mile.
Admission to LACMA, the Architecture+Design Museum, and the Craft and Folk Art Museum is free during ArtWalk, plus more than twenty galleries and businesses on Wilshire Boulevard and La Brea Avenue are participating.
Take part in the ForYourArt aMUSEment Hunt—an activity to encourage families, neighbors, artists, and ArtWalkers to visit all of the participating Miracle Mile destinations! Walkers receive a sticker for all the museums and galleries they vist to place on their map, redeemable for prizes of original prints, catalogues, tote bags, foot massage gift certificates, museum admission tickets, and memberships from the ForYourArt space at 6020 Wilshire Blvd.
LACMA and along the Miracle Mile | Free, no reservations | 12–8 pm
MUSE ARTWALK AFTER PARTY
Saturday, June 16 | 8:30–11 pm
When night falls, LACMA’s BP Grand Entrance remains glowing with the Joshua Light Show, featuring special musical guests from Dublab and Silent Disco. The Joshua Light Show first began in the 1960s at the Fillmore East, where Joshua White led a group of resident artists in orchestrating “liquid lights,” which became as popular as the legendary on-stage acts (Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, The Doors, The Who, etc.). Since the Fillmore, JLS has dazzled audiences at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and Art Basel Miami.
Dublab DJs Secret Circuit, Ale, and Lavenders further set the mood, and Silent Disco brings wireless headphone to keep the dance party going outside after 10 pm. Admission also includes after-hours access to select BCAM galleries—including the newly opened exhibition Sharon Lockhart | Noa Eshkol—and free parking.
Stop by Stark Bar for crafted cocktails or make a dinner reservation at Ray’s for what the Los Angeles Times calls “a feast for the senses.”
BP Grand Entrance | $15 Muse members, $20 LACMA members, $25 general admission | 323 857-6010 or purchase online.
